Portugal Algarve Itinerary

Olá! My parents and I decided to visit the Algarve in Portugal. Everyone told us Portugal has the most beautiful beaches of Europe. We wanted to judge that for ourselves!

After a 45-min. drive from Faro airport, we arrived at our hotel Balaia Golf Village **** in Albufeira. The first 3 days were days of getting to know the hotel (the hotel had 6 pools!), planning our road trip and renting a car from Corendon.

Albufeira is quite the new Ibiza. Every cafe is also a dance bar and a karaoke bar. However, Albufeira is worth a visit just for its beach and old town. We had our ‘home base’ here.

The most important things to see in Silves are the fortress and the cathedral. Caldas de Monchique is an old spa town, built by the Romans. Monchique water is known to cure skin deceases.

Must do near Portimão? Benagil cave! This cave has its own beach and is characterized by a hole in the ceiling. Don’t forget about Algar Seco either!

Lagos is known for its beautiful beaches: Praia Dona Ana, Praia do Camilo and Ponta da Piedada (not a beach). Take for sure a boat ride to behold these beautiful beaches.

Sagres is the name of the Portuguese beer but it is also the place of 2 lookout points: The end of the world and the navigation school from Henry the Navigator. This area is also the best place to surf!

Visiting the old town of Faro. Is faro city too hot? Then go to Pego do Inferno (Hell’s pool) or to the famous castle in Estoi.

If you have any questions about the Algarve in Portugal, don’t be shy to ask them!
