17 must do’s in London

My mum took me to Londen when I was 17. She used to live there as an au pair and wanted to show me the city she lived in. Here are my must do’s when in London.

1) Borough Market

If you want to shop for fruit and vegetables, then you should visit Borough Market. The market is open from Wednesday till Saturday and the merchants give you free tastings!

2) London Bridge

Fergie sings about the London Bridge but actually shows the wrong bridge in her music video. She sings about the London Bridge but shows Tower Bridge, auwtch.

3) Tower Bridge

The Tower Bridge connects the 2 parts of London together. If you want, you can even walk on a glass floor on the bridge!

4) Tower of London

The Tower of London was a prison from 1100-1952. The castle is also used as an armory and a treasury (Crown Jewels of England).

5) St. Paul’s Cathedral

St. Paul’s Cathedral stands out in the London skyline. It is located at the highest point in London. The cathedral is one of the highest domes in the world! Liverpool Cathedral is the biggest, other high cathedrals are the cathedrals in Rome and Milan.

Fun Fact: the wedding of Lady Diana and Prince Charles was held in this cathedral.

6) Covent Garden

Go check out Covent Garden, a place where you can shop and visit lots of pubs and cafés!

7) Trafalgar Square

Trafalgar Square is a square that commemorates the Battle of Trafalgar. It was at this place where I saw Daniel Craig filming a James Bond movie!

8) Picadilly Circus

Piccadilly Circus is a road junction in London’s West End. You’ll pass it when you do some shopping on Regent Street. The road junction is famous for its neon signs, which makes it look like a mini Times Square!

9) Shopping on Oxford street

Oxford street is a 2km long shopping street in London! After you have done all the shops in this street, you must certainly check out Regent Street!

10) Musea in Londen

You can also visit some museums in London! You can visit Madame Tussauds, The British Museum en the National Gallery.

11) Harrods

Go have a look at Harrods! Harrods is a luxury department store just outside the city center. You can easily spend half a day in this store! Sometimes the store is rented by the royals so they can do carefree shopping!

12) Buckingham Palace

This stop is on everyone’s bucking list when coming to London. Buckingham Palace is one of the most famous palaces in the world. Make sure to be there when the guards change position!

13) Westminster Abbey

Westminster Abbey is the place of coronations, royal weddings and is also the burial site for all monarchs.

14) Palace of Westminster

The Palace of Westminster is the place where the House of Commons and the House of Lords are housed.

15) Big Ben

Big Ben is the clock that belongs to Westminster Palace. You can’t climb the tower unfortunately but the view is amazing on its own!

16) London Eye

London Eye is one of the biggest Ferris wheels in the world! It is easily seen from the bridge where you can also spot the Big Ben and Westminster Palace.

17) Notting Hill

Let’s go to Notting Hill and find the famous bookstore! We were lucky to enjoy ourselves a local market!
