NASA’s Kennedy Space Center at Cape Canaveral

Cape Canaveral is mostly known for the Kennedy Space Center, the launch center of human spaceflight. Here are my must do’s when you’re visiting the Kennedy Space Center.

The John F. Kennedy Space Center is one of the 10 National Aeronautics and Space Administration field centers. It is also NASA’s primary launch center of human spaceflight. The Apollo and Space Shuttle programs were carried out here.

Tip: When entering the visitor complex, please make sure to take a plan to know your way around. Of course, there is also a map on the website of Kennedy Space Center, or just download their app.

1) Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex

So when you buy a ticket for Kennedy Space Center, you’ll be able to enter the KSP Visitor Complex. There is a lot to do and see here.

Entrance fee: $52 (adult), $42 (child)

Rocket Garden

The Rocket Garden is a tribute to all the engineers and scientists who made it possible to launch NASA’s Mercury, Gemini and Apollo programs. It is the most photographed place in the whole complex.

John F. Kennedy Fountain

This is a tribute to President John F. Kennedy that won the Space Race to the Moon. That’s why they named the Space Center after him.

Nasa Logo

Don’t forget to pose in front of the NASA logo!

Sad Fact: 1 day before we flew to the USA, I went to the hairdresser. I asked to shorten my hair. I wanted my hair on my shoulders, but the student hairdresser forgot I had curls. Result? My hair dried and the curls came in. It was just beneath my ears. I was so angry, I didn’t want to have my picture taken. So the photos that I have of myself on this trip are rare!

Shuttle Launch Experience

This was quite fun. You enter a shuttle and you’ll be able to experience the flight into space. Sights and sounds included!

Apollo/Saturn V Center

The bus tour will drop you off at the Apollo center. This center lets you experience the Apollo Program by yourself from the first launch to the Moon landings.

The Apollo Center also houses the Saturn V rocket, the largest rocket ever flown.

Also, don’t forget to touch the Moon Rock! This piece of Moon Rock was returned to earth during Apollo 17.

Tip: Don’t forget to make a wish when rubbing it.

For food, beverages, and souvenirs, enter the unique Moon Rock Cafe!

First, the bus will take you to a base from which you can see the Launch Complex 39. These two launch pads (39A & 39B) were used during most of Apollo flights and all of the Space Shuttle Program launches.

Vehicle Assembly Building

This is the large building at Kenedy Space Center. This building houses the many manufactured space components such as rockets and shuttles.

Launch Control Center

This building manages the launches of the spacecraft from the Launch Complex 39. You also get to see the control room from the inside. It looks very old but you must keep in mind that they send men to the moon with that type of equipment!

Space Station Processing Facility

You’re also able to see the manufacturing of the equipment and International Space Station modules.

! Side note!

I’ve been to the Kennedy Space Center in 2010. A lot has changed since then. I was checking the website and they really upped their game! A giant Memorial to all the heroes and astronauts is new for me.

I did all of this in one day and I must say at the end of the day I had a headache. So much knowledge and information went into my head! So it’s doable in 1 day but spare yourself a headache and spread it over two days maybe.

Have you ever been to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex?
