6 must do’s in Bodrum | Turkey
Bodrum is a relaxing vacation with a bit of culture in the area. Here are my must do’s in Bodrum.
Check out my Instagram for more photos!
1) Mausoleum of Halicarnassus
Bodrum was once known as Halicarnassus when the Greeks ruled the city. The Mausoleum of Halicarnassus is a grave of King Mausolos and his wife. At one time in the world, it was even one of the seven wonders of the ancient world! But it collapsed due to an earthquake. The stones that were still useable were taken to build the castle of Bodrum.
2) Turkish Bath (Hamam)
Enjoy a Hamam! Hamam is a place of public bathing. First, you’ll go into a room heated by hot air. Continue by pouring cold water over yourself. After that, you’ll get a full-body wash with foaming soap. You ‘ll end the Hamam with a massage! This is all done whilst wearing your bathing clothes of course.
3) Bodrum Castle
Go to the harbor to visit the Bodrum Castle. The castle was build in the 15th century to protect the city from pirates.
Price: 30 Lira
4) Theatre of Halicarnassus
Go check out the Greek theatre of Halicarnassus. The theatre is well preserved and is still being used in the summer for concerts!
5) Bodrum Souk
A souk is a marketplace in the open but covered with sails. You can buy spices, food, clothes, bags, toys and more! Just watch out for the heat and pickpockets.
6) 1-day excursion to Kos
If you want to experience more culture, take a 1-day excursion to Kos. A greek island just in front of Turkey.

In my opinion, Bodrum is more like a relaxing vacation than a culture trip just like Northern Crete.
