6 must do’s in Whistler | Canada
Whistler was the host of the 2010 Winter Olympics. We visited Whistler in 1 day but wanted to stay longer. Here are my 6 must do’s when in Whistler.
1) Sliding Centre & Olympic Park
When you’re in Whistler, you can visit the Sliding Center and Olympic Park used in the Olympics. My brother told us that this wasn’t quite what he expected because he visited it in the summer. So we decided to not do this.
2) Olympic Plaza
We did go to the Olympic Plaza. After our shopping spree, we ended up at the Plaza where you can find the Olympic rings, panels with the names of the winners, and the Paralympic rings. There is also a stage where events and performances can be orchestrated. Every night at 7 PM, a live band will perform at Olympic Plaza.
3) Bike on the Valley Trail
We originally wanted to do this but due to some constructions on the road, we drove the whole day to Whistler (instead of 5 hours). The Valley Trail is a 40 km trail where you can stop at Lost Lake, Green Lake & Alta Lake.
4) Sasquatch Zip Line
What we did do was the Sasquatch Zip Line. It’s a 2.2 km zipline, the longest zipline of all Canada and the USA. You’ll be speeding 100km/h at an altitude of 200 meters. You can watch the video here.
5) Garibaldi Provincial Park: Cheakamus lake
After our adventure with the zip line, we hiked to Cheakamus Lake. The hike takes around 2 hrs (return). The lake itself is a beautiful bright green lake in the middle of nature. We also saw some scout girls camping on the side of the lake which was fun to watch (2 friends who were not in the same tent = drama).
6) Alpine trails of Blackcomb mountain
Due to our 1 day schedule, we didn’t have time to do this but after seeing photos we sure would have wanted to do it! You’ll hike Blackcomb mountain with amazing mountain views! If you’re lucky, you’ll see marmots.
