Trianon Estate | Versailles

The Trianon Estate is a must-do when in Versailles. Visit the Grand Trianon, Petit Trianon, and the Queen’s Hamlet.

Check out my Instagram for more photos!

1) Grand Trianon

The Grand Trianon was built for the royal family as a refuge for life at the royal court. Here they could be ‘normal’. The Grand Trianon is built from marble, replacing the porcelain Trianon.

The Mirror room

This is the room where Louis XIV met his minister for a council.

The Empress’ Bedroom

This is the bedroom of Louis XIV.

The Peristyle

The Peristyle connects the east and west wing of the palace.

Fun Fact: Great photo occasion!

The Emperor’s Family Drawing Room and the Queen of Belgium’s Bedroom

Yes, part of the palace belongs to Belgium! But unfortunately, we couldn’t see the bedroom, only the drawing-room.

The Cotelle Gallery

The gallery has 21 paintings of the gardens of Versailles. It shows us a perfect timeline of how the gardens looked like.

Grand Trianon Gardens

We didn’t do this due to no time and sore feet!

2) Petit Trianon

The Petit Trianon was built for Madame de Pompadour but she never had the occasion to live in it due to her sudden death. After that, Marie-Antoinette lived in the Petit Trianon.

Warming room

This room is not a kitchen but is merely to warm up the dishes brought in from the palace.

Marie-Antoinette’s Apartments

The room of Marie-Antoinette.

3) Queen’s Hamlet

The Queen’s Hamlet was a place where Marie-Antoinette could be at peace and live a somewhat normal life. We didn’t visit this due to no time. But I think it is a beautiful place that must be on your list!

Warning: Don’t leave the Petit Trianon as we did! You can only enter the Queen’s Hamlet by the gardens of the Petit Trianon.

Which room did you like the most?
