Kos is a blend of sun-soaked beaches, ancient history, local cuisine, and laid-back island life. Whether you’re exploring the ruins of the Asklepieion, walking the cobbled streets of Kos town, sampling fresh seafood by the harbour, or discovering hidden coves and panoramic trails on Mount Dikeos, Kos offers something for every traveller.

1) Bike or Walk

The town is very touristy. Just grab a bike and explore the rest of the Island! We took a small train to go around the town. During the train ride, you’ll see archeological sites, small towns, and Kos town.

2) Asklipieion

Go to Asklipieion, the best-preserved archeological site on the island. Asklipieion was once a spa. We couldn’t do this as we were only there for 1 day in the town.

3) Castle of Neratzia

When you enter the town by boat, you’ll see the castle of Neratzia. The castle used to be open to the public, but is now closed due to a hazard of collapsing.

Make sure to walk along the beach, eat a delicious dish, visit some shops in the small streets, and discover Hippocrates’ Plane Tree.

Fun Fact: Hippocrates was born on this island!

5) Day trip to Bodrum

If you want to experience more culture, take a 1-day excursion to Bodrum, Turkey.

The town is very touristy and is not really a town where you’ll find culture. It’s way too touristy for me, but I think it would be perfect for those who want a vacation to just relax, swim, sunbathe, and eat.
