9 Must do’s when in Nice | France

Nice, a coastal town on the Côte d’Azur in France, is becoming increasingly popular as a city trip. What should you definitely do in Nice? Below you will find my 9 must do’s when in Nice!

1) The Promenade des Anglais

The Promenade des Anglais is a 7km long promenade along the coastline. The idea of the promenade along the coastline came from English expats who liked to wander along the coastline in the 1800s. Go have a stroll on the promenade to enjoy the gorgeous blue Mediterranean sea, stop at a beach bar or dine at one of the many restaurants.

2) Marché Aux Fleurs Cours Saleya

Go have a look at the flower market that has its roots back to 1897. You will not only find flowers at the market but also fruit, soap, spices, teas, tapenades, and vegetables! You will find the flower market at Cours Saleya (old town) which is also the ideal place to have a drink or eat something at one of the many terraces!

3) Hotel Negresco

Hotel Negresco is the most historic hotel in Nice. The hotel is situated on the Promenade des Anglais and is more than 100 years old. Go have a “Roya Negresco” at the hotel’s bar (Kirsch, raspberry syrup, and champagne).

4) Parc de la Colline du Château (Castle Hill)

This park has the most beautiful view over the bay and city of Nice. Don’t forget to check out the “monument of the dead” and the waterfall on Castle Hill.

Fun fact: Accessible by elevator

5) Discover the Old Town

Another must see in Nice is its old town with its old-looking alleyways, colorful facades, and typically Mediterranean shutters.

When you visit the Old Town of Nice, I also recommend you to see: The Courthouse Square (Place du Palais de Justice), Place Garibaldi, The Russian Orthodox Church, The Rossetti Square (Place Rossetti), where the magnificent Saint Reparata Cathedral is located.

6) Middle Corniche road

After visiting Castle Hill, take the Middle Corniche road to have another panorama view of the sea and to go to the harbor of Nice!

Fun Fact: Take a break at one of the cafés.

7) Day trip to Cannes from Nice

From Nice, it is quite easy to do a day trip to Cannes!

8) The Harbour of Nice

Even big cruise ships will have a stop here!

9) Enjoy the food!
