6 must do’s in Tofino & Ucluelet | Canada
We went to Ucluelet after our whale watching tour in Campbell River, Canada. Here are my must do’s when in Ucluelet and Tofino.
We stayed in Ucluelet but most of our activities are located between Ucluelet and Tofino.
1) Cathedral Grove
On our way from Campbell River to Ucluelet, we passed Cathedral Grove. The biggest trees in Cathedral Grove are about 800 years old and 75m high. Those trees survived a fire 350 years ago and the invasion of the Europeans.
Fun Fact: The core of the trees was used to build canoes out of it.
2) Long Beach
Long Beach is supposed to be a very beautiful beach but we also heard it is overrun with tourists. We, therefore, decided not to visit this beach and to go to Combers Beach.
3) Tonquin Beach
Same for Tonquin Beach, but if you organize a beach day you can visit every beach and make a wonderful day!
4) Combers Beach
Every tourist goes to Long Beach, so we decided to go to Combers Beach. A lesser-known beach but still a beautiful beach. You first have to walk through the forest to reach the beach, but once you’re there, you’ll enjoy spectacular views!
Bring out your zoom camera because the beach has a viewpoint over Sea Lion Rock.

5) The Wild Pacific Trail Ucluelet: Artist Loops
We decided to do the Wild Pacific Trail: Artist Loops. This trail is a 2hrs trail with photo stops. It’s an easy hike with small hills and stairs. On your hike, you’ll encounter some viewing decks and painter’s perches.
We started our tour in the Ancient Cedars passing the Artist Loops, Brown’s Beach and Big Beach before heading back.
Warning: Watch out for wildlife. We didn’t see any but there is a board saying wolves and bears are roaming the area. Later that day we did saw a black bear crossing the road in that area.
6) Ucluelet Sunset watching
Most important activity! Make sure you’re out there when the sun is getting low. Bright colors everywhere! Joker Reizen let us stay 1 night in Ucluelet and I personally think that’s enough. Maybe because we were tired of our trip.
