Visiting Hallerbos – The Blue forest from Frozen 2 | Belgium
Every year in April, people visit Hallerbos massively in Belgium. Why? Because two weeks a year, The Hallerbos turn into a blue forest with grounds covered in bluebells.

Before you go to Hallerbos
When the bluebell season approaches, the website of the Hallerbos posts daily updates about the condition of the bluebells. That way photographers and other visitors know whether it’s still too early to go, or whether they should hurry up their visit.
Tip: Try to visit the forest during the week and preferably not on a Wednesday afternoon (kids don’t have school then) to avoid the masses.
Spotting the Hallerbos Bluebells
There are different walking paths throughout the forest. It is prudent to follow them and to not walk on the bluebell fields as they are protected. If you want to follow the bluebells route, you need to download the map from the website. That route will take you to all the places where most of the bluebells can be seen, but you can spot the flowers in other parts of the Hallerbos as well.
Facility Fact: There are some picnic tables at the Hallerbos, but there are no toilets. Take your trash with you as there are no bins.
Frozen 2
When Frozen 2 came out there is a scene where the parents of Elza and Anna are kids and playing in a forest with blue flowers. Many believe that the makers got their inspiration from our famous Hallerbos also known as the Blue Forest. Can you see the resemblance?
Fun Fact: The forest dates back to the previous Ice Age, is a unicum in the world and because of that, it has also enormous ecological value!
