Hostel Generator Copenhagen is a hostel in the middle of Copenhagen. We were drawn to the hostel’s location and its price. Here’s my hostel review of Generator Copenhagen in Copenhagen, Denmark.
Quick overview
⭐ I would give this hostel a 3-star rating
📍 Great location with lots of options for activities (inside the hostel or outside, like a pub crawl)
💲 Budget compared to the other stays in Copenhagen
🕒 We stayed here 4 nights (November)
🛏️ Private rooms are small, but the heating was excellent (December cold)
First impressions & check-in experience
The staff is very friendly. They explained everything to us: where we could have breakfast, what activities are hosted in or outside the hostel, and an explanation of the house rules. The elevator is very slow, so your patience will be tested when you stay here. Otherwise, take the staircase if your room is not that high up.
Location & Accessibility
Generator Copenhagen is a 10-minute walk from Kongens Nytorv and Nyhavn which is a 10-minute subway ride from the airport. It’s also a 15-minute walk away from Rosenborg Slot and Rundetaarn. From here, you have the perfect starting point to discover the city on foot!

Facilitites & services
Generator Copenhagen offers petanque, summer terrace, ping pong, a photo booth in their chill room (a.k.a the lobby and bar). On the ground floor, there is another bar that is packed from Thursday through the weekend.

Room review
The room is very small, with barely any space to put our luggage (we put it on the ground). As it was December, the heating was so nice (sometimes you have rooms where you barely feel the heating). The bathroom was also small. The toilet and sink are separated from the shower with a shower curtain. There is Wi-Fi available. The TV doesn’t allow casting, so you’ll have to watch Danish TV without subs.

Overall, Hostel Generator Copenhagen is perfect for staying in Copenhagen when you’re on a budget (even for couples with a private room). The hotel offers a large number of activities for you to do in the city.
