When you’re going to Champagne, Reims must be on top of your list, as this is the commercial centre for Champagne. Here are my things to do when in Reims, France.
Where to stay in Reims?
Things to do in Reims, France
1) Reims Cathedral
Enter the cathedral to see the stunning stained glass windows designed by Marc Chagall.
Fun Fact: Every French king was crowned in this cathedral from the 13th century

2) Champagne House: Pommery & Vranken
First visit the Villa Demoiselle, a house with Art Nouveau & Art Deco styles, where you can taste a glass of champagne of Vranken Cuvée Diamond. After the Villa, you’ll go into the Pommery cellars where you can enjoy an art exhibition at all times (ánd that changes from time to time). At the end of your tour, you get to taste a glass of Pommery Rosé Royale.

3) Palace of Tau
The Palace of Tau lies next to the cathedral, but was unfortunately closed when we were there. The Palace of Tau holds the cathedral’s treasury and is also the place where the king would get his robes for the coronation.

4) Perching Bar (treehouse)
Have a glass of champagne high up between trees! The perching bar gives a unique setting to taste champagne. Want more adventure? Go on the adventure tour before you drink champagne (don’t drink and climb).

5) Sacré Brunch
Have brunch at the best brunch place in Reims! The waffles and pancakes are super delicious!

6) Porte de Mars
The Porte de Mars is an arch from Roman times. It was built in 200 and is the largest Roman arch in the world.

7) Fort de la Pompelle
This fortress (1884) is open to visit. We didn’t do this, unfortunately, due to no time.
8) Place Royale
Place Royal is a square in Reims. It was built for King Louis XV, and you can see his statue in the middle of the square.

9) Discover the city
Wander through Reims and discover some amazing buildings

Subé Fountain

Place Drouet d’Erlon

City hall

The Cryptoportique
10) Épernay
Épernay is near Reims and is surely a must-do. This city is the place to see the grand street with all the champagne houses. Choose one and visit its caves and do some champagne tasting. Read my tips for Épernay.

11) Champagne region
Go check out the 600 km long Champagne Trail when in Reims. Take the scenic route to discover small producers and big producers. Read my things to see in Champagne.
